This season is one of the best seasons in American Idol, many people would say. I can't agree more. The competition proper started with thirteen (13) instead of twelve(12) idols. There is no doubt that the casts exceeded. All of them are really great.
Last night and the other night, I watched American Idol in SideReel.com and in Star World at night. The performance night was a stellar night. Everybody was giving their best. Even I had the hard time to choose whom I want to go home after the voting (I can't vote actually because I reside here in Philippines.). So the elimination night began. Natalie Cole performed and so did Tyler. I loved the number of Jamie Fox. He really is a WONDERFUL performer.
Before the performances of the stars, Danny and Allison were saved leaving Adam, Kris and Matt in the bottom three. It was, in a way, shocking. I was not expecting for Allison to be in the top 2, knowing that she has been in the bottom three for how many times. I was grateful the two were saved. I loved them. Kris Allen was saved next. It was between Adam and Matt. I was again shocked. I couldn't believe that Adam will be in the bottom two. He was saved and Matt was eliminated. I was expecting that. It was hard. The competition is very stiff. Everybody really has the chance of becoming the next American Idol. Next week is Disco Week. I can't wait.

Let's play BANZAI!
ScreenLife Games is at it again. They launched a new Banzai game.
Banzai is a one-of-a kind game that can make every group of people--friends, family, classmates, etc, jump off their seats because of so much fun. The Banzai DVD Game is a betting game where people bet plastic on outcome of bizarre Banzai stunts from hit TV Show of the same name.
The game is a test of wit and speed. How is the game played? There must be a group of people to start off the game. The DVD will be played and the bettors will be given time to bet of what will happen next in the video clip. The bettors will race to fill up the betting bowls with plastic sushi using only their chopsticks. After the betting, the next scene will be played and whoever wins the bet gets the sushi. Whoever wins all the sushi wins the game. The game sounds very childish but for me it brings out true enjoyment. It makes you relax, laugh
, and really enhances your guessing skill and speed. It really requires great speed to fill up the betting bowl. Personally, I am not good chopstick user but that makes the game more fun. The fun starts with the struggling of using the chopsticks. Moreover, the video clips are really fun to watch. The laughing part is always present. You can't resist to laugh. Banzai is all in all a game for all ages, for all kinds of people, and this game is safe to play because it's done at home or should i say indoor. Go Ateneo!
Now it is down with the two best teams in this season—The Ateneo Blue Eagles and the de la Salle Green Archers. September 21, 2008, 4:00PM, the first game for the best of three games of the UAAP Season 71 Finals commenced. The blue people left the big dome victorious with the score of 61-69 in favor of the Blue Eagles. Ateneo scored in the game first and made an early 2-4 point lead (at that range). At the end of the first half, Ateneo, made an 11-point lead. However, while in the second quarter, de la Salle got the chance to take the lead of three but the soaring eagles did not wait to take back its lead until the end of the quarter. Hence, the 11-point lead. The Blue Eagles maintained its strong defense and lead until the final quarter making them win the first game. One more for Ateneo and it wins the finals.
I would also want to commend the performance of Hussaaini who scored 31 points. The great shots of Efren Buenafe and Eric Salamat have really made the team win. Its superstar Chris Tiu was not very visible in the duration of the game. He was part of the first five and the last five but was not really there in the middle quarters. But still he gained the crowds cheer with his wonderful shot during the last quarter.
Ateneo is a very strong team. I am proud of it. Although I am not there and not really an Ateneo de Manila student, my cheers and prayers are for the team.
I am an Atenean, a blue knight who cheers for the blue eagles. Animo Ateneo! Get that BALL and WIN!

Celtics DUMPED Lakers by a 39 point lead
BOSTON (AP) -- With Russell and Havlicek sitting courtside, and Red surely lighting up a victory cigar somewhere, these Boston Celtics returned to glory like the great teams before them.
Dominant in every way.
On a new parquet floor below aging championship banners hung in the rafters two decades back, the Celtics won their 17th NBA title and a first one -- at last -- for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen -- their Big Three for a new generation. After 22 long years, the NBA has gone green. Lifted by ear-splitting chants of "Beat L.A." early and cries of "Seven-teen" in the closing seconds by their adoring crowd, the Celtics concluded a shocking rebound of a season with a stunning 131-92 blowout over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 on Tuesday night.
"It means so much more because these are the guys, the Havliceks, the Bill Russells, the Cousys," Pierce said. "These guys started what's going on with those banners. They don't hang up any other banners but championship ones.
"And now I'm a part of it."
With the outcome assured, Boston fans sang into the night as if they were in a pub on nearby Canal Street. Rivers lost his father at the beginning of this remarkable run, a season no one expected.By the time Rivers was handed the Larry O'Brien Trophy, it was June 18 -- his late father's birthday.When the game clock reached zeros, Rivers reflected on his dad."My first thought was what would my dad say," Rivers said, "and honestly I started laughing because I thought he would probably say, if you knew my dad, 'It's about time. What have you been waiting for?'"It's was Boston's first title since the passing of Auerbach, whose presence was the only thing missing on this night. Even Auerbach, who died in 2006, got some satisfaction. Led by Rivers, Auerbach's beloved team denied Lakers coach Phil Jackson from overtaking him with a 10th championship.
The Boston-Los Angeles rivalry, nothing more than black-and-white footage from the 60s and TV highlights of players wearing short shorts in the 80s to young hoops fans, remains tilted toward the Atlantic Ocean. Robi is my BIG WINNER!
I don't know what happened but it turned out that Ejay bested Robi. He took the title as the PBB Teen Big Winner. I was expecting Robi to be the big winner because he really is a model in the house of Big Brother. He showed what it should be like a teenager. He embodies the characteristics of a good filipino teenager. But I am not saying that Ejay is not a good teen. It just that, Robi is a better teen. I was so disappointed when Robi's name was called for the SECOND TEEN PLACER. He should be the BIG WINNER. Well, I can't undo what happened. Maybe, Ejay won because he really needs it more than Robi. Still, I am happy for Ejay. I hope his family would be united and that they could start a better life. And to Robi, I think people love him more. To PBB staff, the show was so great.

My Girl: A Filipino Flavor
I can still remember those moments when I laughed at Jasmine, the lead role in the Korean Series MY GIRL.She was a funny bubbly girl. I really loved her character. That made me watch the show from start to end. The lead stars were really great--great chemistry, superb acting and good looks. The Filipino dubbers were so good too. All in all, the series was a BOMB. Now, Philippine TV dares to localize the foreign show.
ABS-CBN franchised the Korean Hit MY GIRL. This is a big leap for the Philippine TV because for the first time, there will be a localized version of a foreign TV hit. The station gives its trust to the young stars of today, the most sought-after loveteam, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. This is a big project for both teens after their successful TV series Sana Maulit Muli which is being aired now in Taiwan.
One great thing of this localized version is that it really is localized. The filipino version is not a full copy of the original one. It is a good thing so that to avoid comparison. As we all know, the Korean version was aired first and it was a big HIT. Now comes a Filipino version and with a Filipino flavor; making it unique and closer to Filipino lifestyle. The show starts this Monday, May 26, 2008. I am expecting a high rating for the pilot episode.

Shy and Gerald Anderson--Lovers Before
PBB has a new "thing" to spice up its show. Just last Sunday, the show presented the "HOUSEPLAYER NG BAYAN". She is known in TV as Shy (not her real name). She has to do what the people would ask her through voting. Now, she has won two tasks making her P20,000 richer. Her entry was so controversial that she made the girl housemates fight and the other boy housemates to get mad and be suspicious. But what makes her MORE CONTROVERSIAL was her past. Big Place in the first edition, was her ex-boyfriend. Or are they really not together anymore? I have never heard this news before. Can this affect the KIMERALD tandem? Madonna Decena: A Song for her Children
Without a doubt, Filipinos really got the talents. And we are bold enough to share these to the world. While waiting for my favorite TV show, a news caught my attention. It said there that a Filipina working in Britain is gaining fame in YouTube with her performance in a Reality Talent Show in UK called Britain's Got Talent 2008. I was curious of how was her performance; why were there so many who viewed her clip? And at this instance, I found the answer.
Madonna Decena is a mother of two who left her kids to their grandmother to look for fortune in Britain. She is 32 years old and working as a club singer. I watched the video of her audition. It was funny, memorable and TOUCHING. The audience as well as the judges felt that too. She sang the piece, I will always love you of Whitney Houston. It was not that original but she delivered it very well. The song was for her children. It was her intention for joining the show--more work, more work, more opportunity to help her save money for her children. This is not a new story for everybody but the fact remains that we were still touched by her story. Even British people were moved by her story. She received a three YES from the three judges. Simon Cowell gave her a NO, retracting it by saying, NO, he doesn't want to disappoint the people and ended it by saying YES with a wink. The audience gave her an applause and a standing ovation. She really deserved to be in. And as the judges said, she is brilliant and she will really go a long way. I agree with them. And I hope and pray that this show will help her meet her children and never to leave them again.

After the two hours of voting, America decided. Brooke White was finally sent home. As for me, America had the right choice based on the performance the other night. Syesha gave a better performance than her. She has reached a long way and she even survived the previous eliminations. But not this time. It's her time to leave. Now it's down to the final four. Who's going out next? Will Syesha run out of luck? Who'll be the next American Idol? We'll find out soon.

The New 7 Wonders of the World: Keep Voting!
Last year, July 7, 2007, the NEW 7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD were announced in Lisbon, Portugal. It's success is now coming to repeat itself with the new set of finalists to be voted upon for the 2008 New 7 Wonders of the World. Weber, the founder of this campaign, aims to be democratic in the selection of the 7 wonders--which in this case, through online voting (i am not sure if there are other means to vote).
The Philippines, according to the list of finalists, has two entries--The Tubbataha Reef and The Puerto Princesa Subteranean River National Park. The previous entry ranks 8 as of today's voting while the latter bags the 53rd spot. I, as a Filipino, campaign for these two wonders for they really encompass the truest meaning of the word WONDER.
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 kilometers north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. The National Park is located in the S
aint Paul Mountain Range on the northern coast of the island. It is bordered by St Paul Bay to the north and the Babuyan River to the east. The City Government of Puerto Princesa has managed the National Park since 1992. It is also known as St. Paul's Subterranean River National Park. The entrance to the Subterranean River is located a short hike from little town of Sabang.
It features a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 km
. navigable underground river. A distinguishing feature of the river is that it winds through a cave before flowing directly into the South China Sea. It includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers. The lower portion of the river is subject to tidal influences. The underground river is reputed to be the world's longest.
The area also represents a significant habitat for biodiversity conservation. The site contains a full mountain-to-the-sea ecosystem and has some of the most important forests in Asia. It was inscribed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site on December 4, 1999.
Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. Rising from the volcanic depths of the Sulu Sea in the western Philippines, these magnificent atolls encompass an astonishing diversity of marine life.
The park is an underwater sanctuary where nature can thrive. Tubbataha is the Philippines' only National Marine Park and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a place of global importance, being preserved for generations to come.
From majestic whale sharks to elusive seahorses - Tubbataha supports an unparalleled variety of marine creatures. Colourful reef fish crowd corals growing in the shallows while sharks and manta rays haunt the steep drop offs to the open sea.
A team of rangers are stationed on the reef year-round and, from March until June, divers visit Tubbataha to experience the wonders of this unique underwater world.

The Forbidden Kingdom: Great Not New
The Forbidden Kingdom is the product of the first joint project of the two legendary Martial Arts actors of this generation--Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Definitely, the two icons being together in a movie makes the film a must-see. What makes it more interesting and enticing is that the movie brings out the forte of the two legends.
In Forbidden Kingdom, American teenager Jason (Michael Angarano), who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and Kung Fu classics, finds an antique Chinese staff in a pawn shop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King (Jet Li). With the lost relic in hand, Jason unexpectedly finds himself transported back to ancient China.
There, he meets the drunken kungfu master, Lu Yan (Jackie Chan); an enigmatic and skillful Silent Monk (Jet Li); and a vengeance-bent Kung Fu beauty, Golden Sparrow (Crystal Liu Yi Fei), who lead him on his quest to return the staff to its rightful owner, the Monkey King - imprisoned in stone by the evil Jade Warlord (Collin Chou) for five hundred years. A mix of fantasy, action and comedy, The Forbidden Kingdom is a movie to see. You can never realize that you have spent an hour and thirty minutes of your time because of its fast pace. The music, animation and the special effects are really good. However, I see the storyline as not very unique. But it doesn't mean that it was not a good story, it was just not new to me. As a whole, I enjoyed watching the movie. I can't remember blinking my eyes in the duration of the movie. I encourage the people out there who do not yet watch the movie. It is a movie worth your money.
