After being the best search engine, Google decided to be not just a search engine inside different browsers. So, it decided to make an open source browser of its own. They call it Google Chrome. Like the Google homepage, the browser is clean and simple but has the foundation of a browser than runs today's complex applications. Chrome is far from done however Google has released this beta for windows and hoping that users would help them make the browser better through comments and reports.

I am learning Php and Flex now as part of our course this year. Learning them is really not easy but it is fun. Learning is fun really. We are making now a Room and Laboratory Reservation Monitoring System using the said platform and scripting language. I can't really say we are great at these because this will be the first time we are using these to develop a system. I am looking forward to knowing these more.

LASIK & Laser Eye Surgery
The LASIK technology has been used by the Department of Defense (DOD) of USA and NASA to increase the performance of specialized personnel facing extreme physically demanding conditions which tremendously benefited civilians for more than five years now. According to Steven Schallhorn, M.D., a retired US Navy Captain and the clinical head for research and study in the DOD regarding the use of the said technology, LASIK has been validated by NASA and DOD to exceed all standards of safety and effectiveness.
As of the moment, the modern LASIK (iLASIK Procedure) is using two lasers compared to the earlier versions of procedures which used only one. The latest procedure has these several stages:
1. The wave-front technology maps the unique characteristics of the individual's eyes.
2. Next, a corneal flap is created by an ultrafast, computer-guided laser.
3. After the creation of the flap, the wave-front mapping data guides the second laser for vision correction.
With these advanced technologies, statistics showed that 95% of the 100 personnel gained a 20/20 vision or better and 100% of naval aviators highly recommend the procedure to there fellow aviators.
Dr. Schallhorn encourages people to be one of the over 12 million Americans who benefited from the LASIK technology.
This modern procedure really provides an excellent safety and visual results. It is fast, safe and the patient will not feel anything at all. It is certified virtually painless. Most of all, everybody can almost afford it. No joke at all. Eyeglasses and contact lenses are no longer IN. Having a 20/20 vision or better is what everybody needs. iLASIK Procedure has it. Go get it now.

CISCO Certification: Best for IT Specialists
I am an IT student in a good university in the Philippines. Being in third year now, I am taking up a Computer Networks course which is basing on CISCO standards. At first, I was puzzled what really CISCO is all about until our class instructor told us so. He said that Cisco certification can be of big help to us especially as we compete outside for job opportunities. The certification can give us an edge to other applicants and that make CISCO more appealing to every student in the class. Right now, we are using a CISCO module which is a very detailed module about networking. We use the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Module. It may be very long and intricate; however, it is very handy and reader-friendly. I can easily learn from their modules.
CISCO has three levels of certification: Associate, Professional and Expert with six various tracks like Routing and Switching, Network Security, Service Provider, Design, Storage Networking and Voice. These are available paths so as to match the certification path to the person’s job role or industry. Another thing, one can get a specialist certification in the technologies such as security, IP Telephony, and wireless.
Furthermore, I see some great stories from CISCO certified IT specialists on the internet and to other people whom I have known before. Personally, I would really choose to have a Cisco certification not only because it gives me an edge to anybody else but also because it gives me more work opportunity and credibility as to the employers. I know someday even as a starter to any work, with the help of a CISCO certification I can be regarded by the companies as someone who is skilled and worthy of their pay. If I reach the right age and the right time, I surely will take a Cisco Career Certification.

My FRIENDSHIP with JSP
At first glance, I thought I would not like JSP. I imagined myself cursing those developers of this language asking them why they have done such a horrible deed. I really had a wrong impression with the Java Server Pages (JSP). But now, I am friends with it.
According to Wikipedia, JavaServer Pages (JSP) is a Java technology that allows software
developers to dynamically generate HTML, XML or other types of documents in response to a Web client request. The technology allows Java code and certain pre-defined actions to be embedded into static content. More...
I have been into sleepless nights trying to figure out how this JSP really works. I have searched the web for samples and information. I was assigned to deal with the JSP codes when we had our midterm project in IT310B. That's why JSP and I became close friends. It was so hard for me to analyze the codes and make it work. I had also to integrate the codes to the pages created by my groupmate. I am happy I really had close contact with JSP. It was a fun experience to sleep very late at night just to make sure that one jsp file works. One good thing with JSP is that it made me extend my patience, explore its functions and of course give me the chance to develop and widen my knowledge on programming.
My friendship with JSP made me more competent.

TOP 5 MOST EXPENSIVE Mobile Phones
While waiting for my eyes to retire I decided to search for the most expensive mobile phones. And I get these 5 on the list. Actually the site provided 10 but i only extracted the top5 phones. I was really awed by the price of each phone. I can't even imagine myself holding a phone that expensive. So here are the TOP 5 MOST EXPENSIVE MOBILE PHONES so far:
1. Goldvish “Le million” = $1,000,000 (£540,540)
A PR stunt it may be, and they surely can’t be expecting to sell any, but the Goldvish “Le million” is officially the most expensive mobile phone in the world, according the Guiness Books of Records. There’s even been talk of a $1.3million phone, but this has fewer diamonds than the Goldvish so I can’t see where the extra expense comes from! The “Le million” is a one off, featuring a blinding 120 carats worth of VVS-1 grade diamonds, according to designer Emmanuel Gueit. If $1 million is out of your price range. the Geneva-based Goldvish also offer several other diamond-encrusted 18k gold models in your choice of rose, yellow, or white, starting at a much more reasonable $25,600 (£13,837).
2. Vertu Signature Cobra = $310,000 (£167,567)
Vertu is now taking orders for the Signature Cobra, designed by French jeweler Boucheron, but you had better be quick as only 8 are being made! The Cobra will feature one pear-cut diamond, one round white diamond, two emerald eyes and 439 rubies. Vertu will also be offering a “cheaper” version, ruby free, at $115,000 (£62,162).
3. Sony Ericsson Black Diamond = $300,000 (£162,162)
Apparently the Black Diamond will be available in 2007, not from Sony Ericsson but by a company call
ed VIPN. Initially only 5 unique numered pieces will be available for the unbelievable price of, wait for it… $300,000.
With regards to the specifications, don’t expect anythin
g remarkable for your money. It will have Quad-band with Wi-Fi, an Intel 400Mhz processor running windows mobile 5, and a touch sensitive 2″ screen. It will also include internal memory of 128mb and will come with a 2Gb SD card for external storage, plus a respectable 4 Megapixel camera.
The designer Jaren Goh has used some pretty impressive materials for the build, featuring titane with polycarbonate, mirror-finish cladding and diamonds.
4. Vertu Diamond = $88,000 (£47,567)
The Diamond is Vertu’s premium range of high-end mobile phones. As the name suggests the handsets in the Diamond range are diamond-encrusted handsets made from platinum. Only 200 of the handsets are being produced, the most expensive believed to be worth an estimated £50,000.
5. Motorola V220 Special Edition = £28,000 ($51,800)
Austrian only designer Peter Aloisson, has taken a standard Motorola, studded it with 1,200 diamonds and added a keyboard inlaid with 18 carat gold. The outcome is a £28,000 handset, suitable for footballers and film stars!
You really need to be SUPER RICH to buy these kinds of mobile phones. But why invest on these stuffs if they depreciate in price fast? If I become filthy wealthy, I don't think I would buy expensive stuffs like these. However, I can't promise that. My mind may change in the near future. :)

E-commerce Security: The Threats and Defenses
The Business World and the World of Technology are now merging towards improving the lives of the many. It is not new to us that business transactions can be done through the internet. This makes the lives of every businessman convenient while earning a lot of money. However, due to the advent of hacking, there are now risks. There’s a need for a stricter security.
According to Business Link (http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/), these are the common threats that hackers pose to e-commerce systems:
• carrying out denial-of-service (DoS) attacks that stop access to authorized users of a website, so that the site is forced to offer a reduced level of service or, in some cases, ceases operation completely
• gaining access to sensitive data such as price lists, catalogues and valuable intellectual property, and altering, destroying or copying it
• altering your website, thereby damaging your image or directing your customers to another site
• gaining access to financial information about your business or your customers, with a view to perpetrating fraud
• using viruses to corrupt your business data
These threats have big impact in the business using e-commerce. Business Link offers the possible consequences that businesses may encounter if there e-commerce systems were hacked:
• Direct financial loss as a consequence of fraud or litigation.
• Subsequent loss as a result of unwelcome publicity.
• Criminal charges if you are found to be in breach of the Data Protection or Computer Misuse Acts, or other regulation on e-commerce.
• Loss of market share if customer confidence is affected by a DoS attack.
There are different potential methods that an attacker or hacker may use. According to IBM (http://www.ibm.com/), the methods are as follow:
• Tricking the shopper
• Snooping the shopper's computer
• Sniffing the network
• Guessing passwords
• Using denial of service attacks
• Using known server bugs
• Using server root exploits
Despite these strategic potential methods of hackers, there are defenses that could be done to prevent these hackers from getting into your system:
• Install personal firewalls for the client machines.
• Store confidential information in encrypted form.
• Encrypt the stream using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol to protect information flowing between the client and the e-Commerce Web site.
• Use appropriate password policies, firewalls, and routine external security audits.
• Use threat model analysis, strict development policies, and external security audits to protect ISV software running the Web site.
But still education is the best defense you could possibly have because if you are well-informed and knowledgeable of the precautions, definitely no wise hacker can enter your system.
